Job Opportunity: Private Client Tax Director

We’re currently partnering with a prestigious Scottish law firm to find a dynamic and experienced Private Client Tax Director. This esteemed firm is well-known in Scotland for their unparalleled commitment to delivering high-quality legal, tax, and financial advice to a diverse range of clients.

Location: Edinburgh/Hybrid

Reporting to: Senior Partner

Role Overview: In this pivotal role, the chosen candidate will work closely with senior members of the firm, including a renowned specialist in intricate tax, trust, and succession concerns. The primary goal is to provide expert counsel on structuring complex estates for optimal tax and succession efficiency, among other responsibilities.

Key Duties Include:

  • Offering detailed tax advice and planning to high-net-worth individuals, families, and business proprietors on topics such as inheritance tax, land and buildings transaction tax, etc.
  • Collaborating closely with the Senior Partner in delivering advice on intricate tax, trust, and succession matters.
  • Engaging with other professional advisers, such as accountants and financial planners, to offer comprehensive solutions.
  • Assisting with contentious matters around wills, trusts, and executries.
  • Developing and nurturing client relationships through stellar communication and management.
  • Staying abreast with the latest in tax legislation and industry trends to offer timely and accurate advice.
  • Enhancing the firm’s thought leadership through article contributions, seminar presentations, and industry event participations.

Desired Skills & Credentials:

  • A tax professional with a substantial background in private client tax, trusts, and succession planning.
  • Affiliation with organizations such as the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), Association of Taxation Technicians, or Chartered Institute of Taxation is a plus.
  • Proven experience in offering advice on inheritance tax and other related tax matters.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal prowess.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Teamwork aptitude combined with the ability to function autonomously when needed.
  • A passion for continuous learning and staying updated with industry shifts.
