About the Role

We are thrilled to collaborate with a highly regarded and rapidly expanding Top 14 accountancy firm in their search for an Assistant Accounts Manager. As the Assistant Accounts Manager, you will play a pivotal role in preparing statutory financial statements, managing outsourced accounting functions for a diverse client base, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and deadlines. Your contributions will be integral to maintaining the firm’s reputation for excellence and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Budget Management: Review and approve draft budgets, ensuring alignment with client expectations and adherence to firm standards.
Team Leadership: Delegate, supervise, and review the work of junior staff, ensuring all tasks are completed thoroughly and accurately before passing them to Partners or Managers.
Client Interaction: Liaise directly with clients or through managers to resolve queries, gather information, and maintain strong client relationships.
Financial Review: Conduct thorough reviews of draft CT computations and financial statements to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Advisory Support: Assist in advisory projects, providing clients with insightful and strategic financial guidance.
Audit Supervision: Oversee critical audit areas for key clients and manage larger client audits, ensuring quality and accuracy.
Portfolio Management: Monitor progress on client portfolios, promptly addressing any issues and keeping Partners or Managers informed.
Cash Flow Management: Manage debtor balances and oversee cash collections, coordinating with credit control and clients as needed.
Service Promotion: Identify opportunities to introduce additional services to clients, enhancing client relationships and business growth.
Compliance Monitoring: Ensure all statutory filing deadlines, including corporation tax and Companies House filings, are met.
Technical Expertise: Serve as a technical resource for staff, offering guidance on complex accounting issues and ensuring continuous improvement.
Continuous Learning: Stay informed about the latest accounting legislation and standards to maintain the highest level of service quality.

Qualifications and Skills

Fully ACCA or ACA qualified.
Significant experience in preparing year-end financial statements, management accounts, and VAT returns.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero is advantageous.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial information clearly.
Highly organised, methodical, and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.
Strong client-focused approach, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
Ability to manage strict deadlines and handle competing priorities efficiently.
