About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Accountant to join an established and growing independent accountancy practice in Fife.

This is a varied, client-facing role offering exposure across accounts, tax, VAT, management accounts and business advisory work. The successful candidate will work closely with a diverse portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for delivering high-quality accounting and tax services while building strong, long-term relationships.

The role would suit a qualified accountant who enjoys working in a smaller practice environment, is comfortable working independently and is looking for genuine long-term career progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Prepare management accounts and provide clients with meaningful financial information.
• Prepare financial projections, forecasts and financial analysis.
• Maintain and review accurate accounting records.
• Review bookkeeping and provide guidance where required.
• Work with a range of accounting software, including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage.
• Assist clients with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
• Prepare and review VAT returns and provide support with wider VAT compliance.
• Consider clients’ wider business tax position and identify relevant tax planning opportunities.
• Prepare and review personal tax returns.
• Liaise directly with clients and provide practical accounting and tax advice.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
• Manage deadlines across a varied portfolio of clients.
• Provide support, guidance and coaching to trainees and more junior members of the team.
• Contribute to the continued development of the practice and its client offering.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• A recognised professional accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
• Strong experience within an accountancy practice or similar client-focused environment.
• Good technical knowledge across accounts and tax compliance.
• Experience preparing statutory accounts for a range of business structures.
• Experience with management accounts and financial analysis.
• Good understanding of VAT and MTD requirements.
• Experience preparing and reviewing personal tax returns.
• Strong IT skills and experience with cloud-based accounting software, particularly Xero, QuickBooks and/or Sage.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A client-focused and commercially minded approach.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a small team while also managing your own workload independently.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to multiple deadlines.
• Previous experience supervising, mentoring or coaching trainees would be advantageous.
