About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accountant to join a well-established independent accountancy practice with a strong reputation for delivering a personal and professional service to its clients.

This is a broad and hands-on role offering the opportunity to take ownership of an established portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors, including agriculture and local SME businesses.

The role would suit a qualified, part-qualified or qualified-by-experience accountant who enjoys variety, client interaction and working with a high degree of autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage an established portfolio of clients across a range of sectors.
• Prepare year-end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Prepare and review personal tax returns.
• Prepare corporate tax computations and manage corporate tax compliance requirements.
• Liaise directly with clients and act as a key point of contact.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
• Provide clients with practical and commercially focused accounting and tax support.
• Manage your own workload and ensure all work is completed accurately and within deadlines.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.
• Contribute ideas to the continued development of the role and wider practice.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues while taking ownership of your own client portfolio.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• ACCA, ICAS, ICAEW or equivalent qualification, part-qualified status or strong QBE experience.
• Previous experience within an accountancy practice.
• Strong experience in accounts preparation.
• Experience with personal and corporate tax compliance.
• Experience working with sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Confidence managing a client portfolio independently.
• Strong client relationship and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
• A proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.
• The ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• A genuine interest in developing strong client relationships and providing a high-quality service.
