About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join a growing and well-established accountancy practice in Edinburgh
This role would suit an accounts professional with at least 2 years’ experience within an accountancy practice who is looking to develop their technical skills and take the next step in their career.
You will work with a varied portfolio of SME clients, gaining exposure to accounts preparation, management accounts and both corporate and personal tax. The role offers excellent opportunities for development within a supportive and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with a varied portfolio of SME clients across different sectors.
- Prepare financial statements for:
- Limited companies
- LLPs
- Partnerships
- Sole traders
- Prepare management accounts.
- Prepare corporate and personal tax returns.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.
- Keep up to date with accounting standards and relevant technical developments.
- Communicate directly with clients and HMRC, both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain regular client contact and provide a proactive service.
- Liaise with colleagues across the practice to provide a coordinated service to clients.
- Manage your workload effectively and ensure deadlines are met.
- Support the wider accounts team with ad hoc client work as required.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 2 years’ experience within an accountancy practice.
- Strong experience preparing FRS 102 Section 1A company accounts, partnership and sole trader accounts.
- Experience preparing financial statements.
- Previous management accounts experience would be advantageous.
- Corporation tax and personal tax experience would be desirable.
- You may be part-qualified or qualified by experience.
- Good technical accounting knowledge.
- Strong IT skills and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- A proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A proactive, adaptable and commercially focused approach.
