About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Internal Audit Assistant Manager or Manager to join a growing and forward-thinking professional services team in Glasgow.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of internal audit assignments from planning through to completion, build strong client relationships and supervise junior team members.

You will work across a varied client base and play an important role in supporting the continued development of the firm’s internal audit offering, with a particular focus on opportunities within the education sector.

The role would suit an experienced internal auditor who enjoys client interaction, leading assignments and developing people, and who is looking for a role offering genuine progression and responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of internal audit assignments from planning through to completion.
  • Plan and deliver internal audit engagements across a varied client portfolio.
  • Liaise directly with clients throughout the audit process.
  • Attend client meetings, including Audit Committee meetings where appropriate.
  • Supervise, support and review the work of junior team members.
  • Undertake more complex and technical internal audit fieldwork.
  • Identify risks, control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports and recommendations for clients.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Lead assignments independently while working collaboratively with the wider team.
  • Support the continued development and growth of the internal audit service.
  • Contribute to the firm’s presence and service offering within the education sector.
  • Take responsibility for delivering high-quality work within agreed timescales.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant professional qualification such as ICAS, ACCA, CIIA or equivalent, or be qualified by experience.
  • Significant internal audit experience.
  • Proven experience planning and leading internal audit assignments.
  • Experience supervising and reviewing the work of junior team members.
  • Strong technical internal audit knowledge.
  • Confidence dealing directly with clients across a range of sectors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to take ownership of assignments and work independently.
  • A positive, confident and professional approach.
  • Strong leadership and people-development skills.
  • A genuine commitment to delivering excellent client service.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
