About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Corporate Tax Manager to join a growing tax team in Glasgow.
This is a varied role offering exposure to a broad range of corporate tax work, from compliance and advisory through to R&D, capital allowances, restructuring, transactions and tax due diligence.
You will manage a portfolio of corporate clients, including owner-managed businesses and larger corporate groups, while working closely with colleagues across audit and business advisory to provide a joined-up service.
The role would suit a qualified tax professional who enjoys technically varied work, client interaction and developing people, and who is looking for an opportunity to take greater ownership within a growing tax function.
The Role
The corporate tax portfolio covers a broad range of services, including:
- Corporation tax compliance.
- Corporate tax advisory.
- R&D tax claims.
- Capital allowances.
- Business restructuring and strategic tax advice.
- Transactional tax advice.
- Tax due diligence.
- Sale and purchase assignments.
- Support with developing specialist and indirect tax services.
- Working alongside audit and business advisory teams on wider client projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage corporate tax compliance assignments.
- Manage a portfolio of key corporate tax clients.
- Review and oversee corporate tax work completed by the wider team.
- Ensure filing deadlines and other statutory requirements are met.
- Plan and allocate work effectively across the team.
- Monitor workloads, budgets and delivery against targets.
- Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues.
- Coach, supervise and develop more junior members of the tax team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and act as a key point of contact.
- Assist with complex corporate tax advisory assignments.
- Support business development, marketing and client acquisition activity.
- Contribute to departmental planning, resource management and process improvement.
- Monitor WIP and support the timely issuing of client fees.
- Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and developments across the profession.
- Prepare technical reports and advice where required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across audit, accounts and business advisory.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- ATT or CTA qualification, or equivalent relevant tax experience.
- Strong experience within corporate tax.
- Proven experience managing and reviewing corporate tax assignments.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK corporate tax.
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients.
- Exposure to corporate tax advisory work would be advantageous.
- Experience with areas such as R&D, capital allowances, restructuring, transactions or due diligence would be desirable.
- Strong people-management and coaching skills.
- Excellent client-facing and relationship-management abilities.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- A proactive, commercially minded and solutions-focused approach.
- The confidence to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
