The Role

We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join an established accountancy practice.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working within an accountancy practice and will be confident preparing accounts for a range of clients, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, including FRS 105.
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
• Assisting with Self Assessment and Corporation Tax work.
• Processing financial information onto accounting software and maintaining accurate client records.
• Liaising directly with clients to request information and documentation.
• Responding to client queries and providing support where required.
• Working closely with the Accounts and Tax teams to ensure deadlines are met.
• Supporting the wider team with general accounts and practice-related duties.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience within an accountancy practice.
• Experience preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Knowledge of FRS 105.
• Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns.
• A working knowledge of Self Assessment and Corporation Tax.
• Good communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines.
• Experience using accounting software.

Experience with Sage Accounts Production, Sage Business Tax and Sage Corporation Tax would be advantageous, although experience with other accounting and bookkeeping software will also be considered.
